What is Inflammatory Breast cancer?Inflammatory breast cancer a/k/a IBC is in a class of its own when compared with any other type of breast cancer. IBC is in the dermal lymphatic system and is the most aggressive type of breast cancer. IBC is usually NOT detected in mammograms or ultrasounds as in most cases, there are no lumps; the cancer lies in sheets and nests. The symptoms can be what appears to be a mosquito bite or a rash that won't go away with salves or creams. One breast that is one cup larger than the other, swelling , feverish breast, lymph node under arm are also symptoms. IBC is sometimes confused with mastitis which is a benign (non-cancerous) breast infection. The way to be an ibc survivor is through education! There are a myriad of long time ibc survivors. Although this is frightening when you read about it, no one wants to scare anyone; we just want to educate you by telling you, YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A LUMP TO HAVE BREAST CANCER and THERE IS MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF BREAST CANCER!
Inflammatory Breast Cancer? For three months now, I've been getting an intermittent breast rash, on the underside, which is quite hot to the touch.
Antibiotics have helped clear it up on 2 occasions. There is however still a visible residual shadow of the rash.
Of course nothing shows up on mammogram or ultrasound.
The only symptoms I don't seem to have are the inverted nipple and no discharge from the breast.
It seems the pores look bigger, so maybe I have the orange peel rash, maybe not. I'm no expert.
At one Emergency Room visit I was told I have cellulitis. I was sent to the ER twice by my gynecologist because the rash wasn't clearing up quick enough in her opinion, once the antibiotics were started. (Amoxycillon)
What I'm wondering is, with IBC does the cancer rash respond to antibiotics generally?
What type doctor should I see now? My primary care and ask for a referral?
From what I've read an MRI can detect Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Biopsy seems debatable.
What now? Any IBC survivors?
The first rash came on quick, within hours from pea size to 3 inch by 4 inch by morning.
2nd time, again, quick and large. Another area on side of breast also started 2 more rashes.
Is inflammatory breast cancer really dangerous?I came across a video clip at http://cancernewsnetwork.blogspot.com/2006/12/inflammatory-breast-cancer-ibc.html
which spoke in depth about inflammatory breast cancer. Is this disease really so dangerous?
Inflammatory Breast Cancer??? Please help!?Last week I noticed a small reddish spot on top of my right breast, almost near the arm pit. There is no lump or heat, but it was sore whenever it was touched.
One week later, the soreness is pretty much gone, but the spot is still there, although it looks lighter than what it used to be (more pinkish now, not too noticeable). I have no idea if this is a bruise or something more serious. I've looked on several websites saying that redness was a symptom of Inflammatory Breast Cancer, and now I'm terrified I might have that! The breast doesn't look larger, there's no "pitting" or "orange like texture", no swollen glands, and the spot hasn't spread, but I'm very nervous.
Does this sound like it could be IBC? Should I see my doctor? I am 21 years old and have never been pregnant. Please help!
The spot is small, maybe a little smaller than a dime or a penny.
Inflammatory breast cancer video (repost)?I posted this earlier asking if anyone had seen the video on IBC (Inflammatory breast cancer ). I was going to post a link to it but accidentally posted it from my e-mail and I didn't want people able to access my e-mail. So, here is the link to the news paper article and the video itself is on the left listed as the Silent Killer (takes about a minute to download but worth it). Please make your female family and friends aware. It is called the silent killer and attacks quickly.

What is Inflammatory Breast Cancer?I'm 24 years old and I am being tested for Inflammatory Breast Cancer. It is really scary and I want to know if anyone can tell me anything about it. What is it and where it comes from?
I have not yet been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer yet, I have all the signs except the redness?I go for a biopsy in one week.... My right breast has two knots and is very inflammed but no redness. It is painful and my lymph nodes under my right arm is also swollen. I was first thought to have a breast infection but after 40 days of antibotics and no improvement, two ultrasounds, two mamograms... I am now seeing a surgeon to have the biopsy. My question is... can it still be inflammatory breast cancer even if there is no redness or discoloration? thanks for your help
Does a burning feeling on the skin of breasts signal a possible sign for inflammatory breast cancer?Well, lately, someone near and dear to me has stated that she felt a burning feeling on the skin of her left breast. She stated that it wasn't the entire breast, but more like the skin area about the size of the tip of her middle finger. She also stated that whenever she pushes onto it, it just burns... It is kind of hard for me to explain it myself, but I was wondering if this was a possible sign/symptom of inflammatory breast cancer. I asked her about it and she plans to get a mammogram on the 20th of this month.
Inflammatory BREAST CANCER!!?Im 18 and I was told that I had a breast infection, because I had a swollen left breast nipple and it was red and warm to the touch and sore..I was given Antibiotics and told if it doesnt get better that is when to come back to the doctor and that is the time to worry...Well two weeks on antibiotics did nothing,So the doctors think I have a rare form of breast cancer Called Iflammatory Breast Cancer also known as I.B.C..Very few women know about it untill it is too late because, you do not have to have a lump to have this from of cancer....I just wanted to let other women know about this aggressive form of cancer....Sometimes with cancer I do feel like im alone because I am so young...dont ever think you are too young for breast cancer!!

Inflammatory Breast Cancer--What do I do?Hello. I am a 22 year-old woman who has never been pregnant. My mother is a breast cancer survivor. She had a localized, non-metastasizing, non-recurring tumor and was 35 at diagnosis.
I am currently started my period. Normally my breasts do get slightly swollen and tender for the week before my period starts; however, my breasts are larger than they normally get and have a deep ache. My nipples aren't really erect like they would be and sometimes feel a small film of stickiness. And today, I just noticed a small, small red spot next to my nipple. There's no "orange" characteristics to either breast.
What should I do? I don't have insurance since I'm no longer in school and therefore no longer a ward of my parents and covered under them. I just started a new job, so I'm not eligible for coverage. Should I just move to Canada? (sorry, lame attempt at humor)
What should I look out for? How long should I wait to see someone? And how in the world would I see someone without insurance?
Could i have inflammatory breast cancer?i read that u cant find inflamatory breast cancer on a mammogram or an ultrasound or self exam so how do you know if u have it my breast have been hurting for a while and im scared i might have it
Need hopeful stories of survivors of Inflammatory Breast Cancer? My dear friend has it. I am just sick about it. One thing I could sure use right now is stories of people who have survived it. THis cancer is not the usual breast cancer. It is much more dangerous. SO stories about IBC only, please. THanks for helping.
Prayer for her and prayer for me to be able to deal with it and for me to be the best friend to her that I can be are the best things I could ask of anyone.
How many of you out there have heard of inflammatory breast cancer?this is a very dangerous form of breast cancer few women know about. made more dangerous by women not getting treatment for it. Symptoms different than regular breast cancer
affects women of all ages even young teens. please educate yourself now! possibly save your own or someone you love's life.
my reason for asking is that I want other people to be aware that there are other types out there and to be informed. I don't want people to die because they had never heard of this.
Inflammatory breast cancer? please help!?My symptoms are pain in the under arm and in the breast. My breast is sore constantly and the nipple is somewhat flattened. It is also itchy sometimes. I have had a breast MRI and ultrasound. Nothing was found. My docs tell me I have nothing to worry about but can not explain my pains. Someone please help! How is IBC diagnosed?
I am 21 years old.
Have you heard about inflammatory breast cancer? It starts out like a bug bite, a red spot, and even doctors are misdiagnosing it. Very scary. I saw pictures where the breast looks uneven, lumpy and even the nipple will become inverted. I got an email about it and I think that all women should know about it. It is not like the traditional lump that you find. If your breasts look funny or you have a red bump, GET IT CHECKED.
Have you heard of Inflammatory Breast Cancer? My friend sent this to me and it freaks me out. It's pretty scary that this type of cancer cannot be detected by a mamogram and most women would just think they had a rash or a bug bite. It kills almost everyone who gets it because they don't know until it's too late. I tried to attach the video link but it wont work. If you want more info give me your email address and I will send it to you. If you don't want to do that, then please look for all the information you can on the net and pass it on, the life you save might be your own or someone you love dearly.
Has anyone ever heard of IBC Inflammatory Breast Cancer? My great aunt was dignosed with it. It is one of the worst kinds of cancer to have, because most cases aren't detected until the 4th stage. If anyone has any information about this cancer please let me know. We are having a hard time dealing with this, becasue there is 95% chance we are going to lose her. www.ibcresearch.org
Are you a woman? Do you know about "Inflammatory Breast Cancer"?Please look at this website. I watched this on a Washington State news broadcast. I live in British Columbia Canada. This is scary stuff. Please read for your sake, your mother's sake, neices, grandmothers, aunts. This is a hideous form of cancer.

PLEASE READ UP ON THIS. WOMEN AS YOUNG AS 16 YEARS OLD HAVE DIED!!!
IBC-Inflammatory Breast Cancer...are you familiar with this?I just read an article forwarded to me by a friend and I would like to know how many women, or even men, know about this silent killer.
I just wanted to prove what the article said that most people are not familiar with this cancer...so just a "yes" if you know about it and a "no" if otherwise...
Breast Cancer? Red spot on my breast- SCARED! please help?About 3 months ago I woke up with something that looked like a spider bite, and it bled for about 2 or 3 days and hurt to the touch. I guess you could say it "healed" because it stopped bleeding and it doesnt hurt or itch, but now it just looks like a bruise that wont go away its been there for about 3 months. Now I have heard of something called Inflammatory Breast Cancer, and I have read up on it and Its symptoms and I know they said it might look something like an insect bite or bruise that doesnt go away and when I read it I got a little scared, but I dont have the itching or enlargement of the breast, no inverted nipple, swelling or any other symptoms really. So can cancer still be a possibility? Does it manifest itself in different ways with different women? and Im only 20 years old.I went to urgent care - the doctor said " It doesnt LOOK like cancer, and gave me some ointment to put on it. He said to put it on for 10 days and check back with him. Any help would be appreciated.

Breast Cancer: IBC?How many people (Especially women) have heard of Inflammatory Breast Cancer?
Please respond if you have or have not heard of this deadly disease.
Please see video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-rItQ9C4dNY
LADIES - were you aware of this new breast cancer? And if so, do you have any other additional information that would be helpful. It's called Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Everything you were taught about the symptoms of breast cancer does not apply to this type. And it is extremely lethal. No lumps and it doesn't show up on a mammogram. A 16 year old girl even died from it, just because she was too embarrassed to tell her mom that her breast looked funny. And most doctors mistake it for a simple infection upon initial examination. Please read the following link for more information (i hope this saves some lives!):
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Sites-Types/IBC
yes, I know it's not new! it was late and i was trying to leave. it's only new in that i've never heard of it before. cancer itself has been around for thousands and thousands of years, it just has a name now. i am concerned that people are concentrating more on my wording than the content....
Is this a normal occurrance - or possibly breast cancer?About a year ago, I had to have a 2nd trimester abortion for medical reasons. A week or so later, naturally I started to somewhat lactate, and my breasts had gotten very swollen and hard.
When it started to subside; on my left breast there was a small area where the skin had felt "thicker" - like what I'd belive to be similar to the "orange peel" effect.
There was no rash or anything, and I didn't think about it. And it has long since gone away.
Is that a sometimes naturally occuring thing when lactating? Or should I be worried it could be a sign of inflammatory breast cancer - or breast cancer in general?
When should I tell my son's father about my possible breast cancer?I have an amicable relationship with my 10 year old son's father. We've had a few issues in the past, but have very pleasant relations because of our son. He has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and sometimes has issues that affect whether or not my son goes and stays with him. For example, last Christmas I had to go and pick up my son a few days early because he had been fighting with his wife and didn't want my son to be around that.
While I am appreciative and am happy that he is respectful of my son and doesn't want my son around his chaotic life, I don't want my son to ever live with him if anything should happen to me.
I was recently given a "breast cancer scare." Basically, the doctor's think that I have inflammatory breast cancer and need surgery soon. I'm going to have a biopsy in the next few weeks...when should I tell my son's father that I could possibly be dealing with a life threatening cancer situation? That I don't want our son to live with him?
Mom died of breast cancer one week after I found I was pregnant. Really hard. Anyone else live through this?Mom had inflammatory breast cancer diagnosed October 24th. She was already in a medicine indused coma by the Sunday I took the test. She was sent home from the hospital that Wed. and died the following Friday. This is my second child and she was so close with my 4 year old. I never got to tell her I was pregnant because, even if she had understood, it would have only made it that much harder for her to die. I'm really hurting and would be so grateful if someone had lived through something similar could answer. Mom was 52. I am 25.

Is there anyone else here going through treatment for breast cancer?I am going through treatment for inflammatory breast cancer since 2004. I'm doing well, have had a few set backs, but all in all, it's good. I have gone through 2 separate times of radiation, 3 separate times of chemo and a bilateral mastectomy. Let me know how you are doing and what you have been going through.

There's a large red spot on my left breast... please answer, I'm scared.?Two days ago I woke up and found a red patch/spot on my left breast on the upper side. It doesn't itch, it doesn't hurt. But it's a rather large, bright red spot/patch that seemed to grow overnight. When I press on it, it feels lumpy. It's slightly raised. Also, when I press on it, the redness disappears and reappears as soon as I stop pressing.
I've read a bit about inflammatory breast cancer and I am scared out of my mind. Can breast cancer even start out this way? With a red lump? I have no breast pains.
Any insight on what this could be? I'm only 22, I don't understand this at all. :(

Sorry... it's about 1.5 inches in diameter.
Am I at a higher risk for Cancer? Both my mother and father passed away with cancer.
My mother had Inflammatory Breast Cancer and passed away when I was 9 and my father had Colorectal Cancer and passed away when I was 11.
I am now 17 and beginning to wonder just how much at risk I will be in the future.
Is there enough "awareness" for cancer?Did you know about the existance of Inflammatory Breast Cancer? I just heard about this the other day. To find out more go to: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-H8.9bMwlcqiN0nuoACtuTVFGa_2xE8U-?cq=1&p=180#comments. Shouldn't there be more information? If this is so silent then maybe people should be more vociferous about it?
I do agree. There are so many other kinds of cancer and there should be more awareness on cancer in general and not just breast cancer.
You've gotta watch this video, though. It is amazing! I didn't even know this stuff existed!
