Connection between Breast Cancer and Diabetes?I have breast cancer (stage 3, invasive). Had the surgery, radiation, and done the chemotherapy (4 rounds AC, 4 rounds taxotere, 18 hercepten ~ I have 5 more herceptin treatments to go). My markers are coming down, slowly but surely. I'm over weight, but not that much. I don't have a family history of diabetes, and have recently been diagnosed with diabetes. The tests so far have indicated that my pacreas is not making enough insulin. My diet does NOT contain a lot of carbs or sugars, and in fact since I was diagnosed with cancer, my diet has included a lot of organic foods (fruit, veggies & organic meat & chicken). I'm also a positive person. I had some weight loss, especially since radiation ended 4 months ago. The symptoms that prompted the tests for elevated blood sugars, was neuropathy in my feet (usually a later effect of diabetes). Anyone know about the connection between the cancer and the diabetes? Caused by the chemo perhaps? or just wishful thinking?

Has anyone had any bad side effects from Tomoxiphen after thier breast cancer treatments?About four years ago I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, had it removed and then given Tomoxophen. the Docs decided that I didn't need chemo. After taking Tomoxophen for 8 months I develoged an allergery (severe bleeding from nose, eyes and other personal areas) and was taken off of it. So far I am cancer free but now I am having other problems such as severely deteroirating teeth and porus bones, thinning hair and have developed rhumatism in my joints. The Doc doesn't seem to know what is going on. I have had all kinds of tests and according to them I should be in good shape. Could it be the Tomoxiphen even if I haven't taken it in years? Anyone have any info? Any information would be appreciated.

Is mastectomy really necessary for a stage 2 breast cancer patient? Is there any other alternatives? My mom have been diagnosed with a stage 2 breast cancer. the doctor wants her to undergo a mastectomy ( an operation where the whole breast will be removed). But she is scared to undergo such an operation and wants to opt for some herbal medicines that promises to heal cancer patients.
54 year old Ann Marie Rogers won her case to be supplied herceptin to stop her "early stage breast cancer"At 54, Is she thinking of having kids ? She is almost certainly going to deprive a person from having a liver or heart transplant because her care trust can't afford to do one operation as a direct result of paying for her tablets. Is she being a bit selfish wanting this drug? Or was this truly the only way of curing her cancer?
Is three years a long time to live with Stage 4 breast cancer? My mom died of stage 4 breast cancer almost two months ago. She was diagnosed over 3 years ago.
What is a really good source of magnesium for a Stage IV breast cancer patient? This is for my daughter who has Stage IV breast cancer that has moved into her lungs. She is in a clinical trial of Ixempra and Xeloda to see if it will bring this down. She has sufferred so much. She is having trouble with her bowels and was told she needed more magnesium, that that was the only thing she was short of in her blood test. She has felt weak and she has been constipated. It is really rough for her. Her oncologist has put her on broths for a few days. It should be noted that my daughter is not me. I don't know how I went wrong, but she does not follow my recommendations or diet. I eat the foods you guys have mentioned and I love them. Her husband likes steak and potatoes and dunkin coffee and some hamburger helper. That is the extent of his diet and my daughter and he are constantly saying "We're good!" and "I'm all set."! As a responsible parent, it is obvious that she is not and he is not and some force or influence has beseeched them in a battle to attempt to upset somebody and it isn't them. She trusts the chemo oncologist beyond belief. I hope he does not let her down. Maybe he can convince her that her diet needs changing?! But it seems she is hell bent on being herself, of her husband being himself and that I and my wife no nothing! I just hope the pills work. Even if they don't necessarily do things the way I do, even if I see her as failing from paying attention to poor diet etc, I still love her! midnight, it sure doesn't and it does not help that she did not eat enough nutrients before she came down with this. I just hope the pills work and she can survive! Anna, with her? I do when I can. We take care of grandbabies and I am allergic to her cat. But I really try. It just hurts so bad that she would not listen to my nutrition advice and she seems to be in such a predictable circumstance from that resentment that she was taught by other older relatives who did not have the DNA/challenges that she put to herself! Tanning, diet, some alchohol, stress....but she is a nice person and she is my hero! She was predestined to go through this life this way, whether or not I like it! I will do whatever I reasonably can do to help her and to stop whatever forces have worked against her being for the rest of my life!
How do I help my friend with a second opinion relative to her Stage 3+ breast cancer?!?!?A very close friend was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. You should know it is in the lymph nodes. She had tests completed, but we were not able to get the results for one reason or another. Then the physician left the country and went back to India for personal reasons. Nurses stated they could not provide us with any information and we needed to wait for Dr to come back. My friend just received a call Sunday evening from the physician stating that he wants her in for more tests (one is a "pet scan") because her test results showed she may have a spot on one lung and on her liver. We live in the Cleveland, Ohio area. I do not want to stay in her current network for this opinion given the above. The Cleveland Clinics is the best. Do you have any idea how we can get this diagnosis out of network? Standard cost for 2nd diagnosis? Any support groups that will help? I've searched internet and sent emails. Time is of the essence. In advance, THANK YOU FOR ANY GUIDANCE!!!!
If you are a chemo oncologist and you have a breast cancer patient who has gone from aggressive Stage IIIC nonhormonal receptive Breast Cancer to a Stage IV Lung Cancer from the breast, and your patient has an exotic male neuterred housecat in her trailer who she loves and kisses on the mouth and fur and does not bathe or wipe with a damp cloth, what would you recommend she do with that cat for her health? You have already told your patient that their cancer if from an outside source, not from inside her body! You have told the patient that if she does not remove the source, the cancer will come back no matter how much chemo she gets! The "quack" as it were is Alexander Hoffman of University of California, San Diego. Look him up. friendly could you write me an email to skahhh@yahoo.com. I would like to get you in touch with my daughter. She is 30. An aunt that she communicated with died recently of adenocarcinoma. Thanks.

Stage IV Breast Cancer Question?I was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and very soon after we discovered that I had bone mets. I've been taking chemo and zometta for the mets, but this past spring, the latest scan revealed that it had gone to my liver, more bone (different part of body), and a lymph node in my chest cavity. I started chemo again and we did another scan - the good news, the lymph node is clear, but the bones and liver remain unchanged. So my question is, how do I remain optimistic when everything I am reading about liver mets seems so negative. I know I will never be cured, but being NED would be very nice. I guess I just need some encouragement today. Thank-you to everyone who takes the time to answer my question! Jen
