I need info on paying for breast cancer treatment? My aunt was recently diagnosed with breast cancer she is 62 yrs old. My aunt and uncle retired last year (my uncle is 64) and don't have health insurance, and don't know how they are going to pay for the chemo and radiation treatments. I'm doing research trying to find a way to help them out. So any info you can give me will help me. Thank You
Anyone out there dealing with vaginal atrophy following breast cancer treatment?Intercourse is painful and burns terribly. I had breast cancer in 1999 and took Tomoxafine and now Femera, which is causing the problem. My oncologist does not approve but will give me a vagi ring if I insist.....though it will introduce small amounts of estrogen into my system and present a very small possibility of the breast cancer returning. Anyone out there face the same situation? I am 58, have a 42 yr old boyfriend who I have been with for 9 years and it is causing problems, thought he says evertyhing is all right, admits he is afraid of hurting me This whole thing must not be pleasant for him and is certainly a problem for me. Any suggestions?
When your DR & your Radioligist disagree about Breast cancer treatment?Put simply my mom has several doctors that have conflicting opinions. She has gotten 2nd opinions and none of the DR's agree on anything. No body even says what stage it is. After 3 mamograms we knew something was up, but they had never said they thought it was cancer. They sent her for a biopsy ( as in the past) but this was not a needle, this was with a scalpel. They did ultra sound, and MRI. She went to a radiologist who said he could not do 8 weeks treatment because it was close to the heart. So her oncologist recomends masectomy. She called the Radioloigist back and told him the recomendation, he said he would not do it if it was him. He said MRI can be wrong, they are so sensitive. He would rather risk heart damage down the road.
Has anybody had to make the treatment decision on thier own, and should they tell her what stage she is in. The biopsy was positive on AUG 1. They say it might be 2 spots and might be in the lymh nodes.
What religion prevents women from seeking treatment for breast cancer? And on what grounds?“One Saudi woman ignored the cancer growing in her breast because she didn't want to risk a referral to a male doctor. Another was divorced by her husband on the mere suspicion she had the disease, while a third was dragged away from a mammogram machine because the technicians were men.”
“Breast cancer is the No. 1 killer of women in the United Arab Emirates, according to official statistics, with many dying because the stigma surrounding the disease prevents them from seeking early detection.”

Guess what religion it is that scares women into living with (and dying of) cancer because treatment might violate “moral” standards -- that is, necessitate an examination by a male doctor? (Here’s a hint: it’s an Abrahamic religion, but it’s neither Judaism nor Christianity)
AngelsAndJinns: that's not culture. How do you explain that the same "culture" can be found in Islamic countries around the world?
If you argument is that Islam imports "culture", then you are on the right track (it's not "culture", though, so much as uniform repression); but if you want to argue that problems like these are cultural NOT religious, you need to explain why these elements of "culture" exist throughout the Muslim world (be it in Europe, the middle east, etc.)
Finally Mrs.B: Just because it's not the STATE preventing women from seeking treatment, that in no way invalidates the claim that this prevention is religiously motivated; the religious direction simply occurs on an individual or family level, rather than a national level.
shab m and CuteMe: The idea that a woman cannot be alone with a man comes directly from Islamic law. The article says many times that one of the chief reasons that these women do not seek treatment is that they fear (or someone else fears) that they will be alone with a male doctor. This is not cultural; it’s Islamic.
In how many Islamic countries, after all, is it a crime for unrelated women and men to be alone together? Just recently some Muslim fruitcake divorced his wife because she was “alone” with a man -- that is to say, she watched a television show hosted by a man while alone. In Pakistan, I believe, a young (unrelated) couple recently caused a massive traffic accident to avoid being caught by police after committing the “crime” of being alone together.
These things come from Islamic law codes, not culture; that’s why many Muslims across the globe believe (and act) the same.
Any breast cancer treatment options for the uninsured?Begining Medicaid application for insurance, unemployed currently.
Recently found lump in underarm one week ago. I think insurance application will take min 3mo to process. Is my only choice to wait without treatment? I don't know who to talk to or where to go. I'm in western NY Erie County.

Why do Indian women seek treatment of breast cancer at such late stage?Breast cancer is curable in early stages of disease. Once advanced- this opportunity if lost. However, majority of women treated for breast cancer in India come to hospitals for treatment of their breast cancer, only when the disease has advanced. WHY??
Indian surgeons and oncologists have the capability to cure breast cancer, even without sacrificing the breast for that- as par with best hospitals and doctors in the world. However, with this kind of late stage presentation, the doctors feel frustated, and patients do not have as good chance of cure
Non surgical treatment for breast cancer?I was diagnosed with breast cancer 1 year ago and have chosen non surgical treatment. Apparently 5% of women choose this path. I would like to hear from anyone in a similar situation.

I want the real low down on weight gain during treatment for breast cancer. Is it really that bad?I am 44, premenopausal, stage IIB, one positive node, 4 removed, not sure yet on Her2 or estrogen +, get pathology report next week. Just had a masectomy 5 days ago. I am starting to read all about treatments and starting to get freaked out with all my body might have to go through!! I am set to start chemo in about 4 weeks and now I learn that on top of everything else, weight gain is on the list too!! I am already 40 lbs overweight and can't afford to get any heavier!! I'm just so overwhelmed with everything. I need the real low down on breast cancer side affects. Also, is this it for menopause? Will I menstruate after treatments end? Again, not only do you have to go through side effects of this dreaded disease, you have to endure the symptoms of menopause!! The hair loss is enough to endure. How can you have a positive attitude when you're bald, fat, having hot flashes, fatigued, scarred, nauseous, etc.?! Please help with any advice you may have! Thanks.
My eldest daughter is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. My second eldest daughter is in a beauty contestWhats the link? My second eldest daughter is in the "Miss Auckland" beauty contest & the charity they are raising money for is the "New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation" You can help them both at the same time by visiting the site - www.missauckland.co.nz & vote for my daughter Vicky - she is "miss sefton construction". You can vote once every 24 hours & if you feel so inclined you have the oportunity to make a donation to the foundation. So for all you sceptics out there you can see that beauty contests aren't just for the vain but also are there to help people.
Sorry got carried away with myself. The question is do you think this is a good way of getting people to become aware of illnesses like breast cancer or should there not be a link between the two?

Breast cancer - mastectomy and treatment after. Anyone out there had any experience of it?I've been diagnosed with breast cancer and am having a mastectomy followed by chemo and radiotherapy. I have the option of reconstruction at the same time but am worried about the effect of radiotherapy on it. Can anyone offer me their advice or tell me their experience of the whole thing? It's obviously worrying and nerve-wracking and i'm trying to make a decision.
Who has info on the relation between in vitro fertilization treatment and breast cancer ?I had 2 children thanks to ivf treatment. I needed to take a lot of hormones. At the time, I never thought about possible consequences, but just recently I read an article warning about taking hormones during the menopause.... These hormones are less or more the same as the ones I took to get pregnant. So I kind of got scared. Anyone who has information about this ?
Possible breast cancer and Tamoxifen treatment? My friend was just told that she will develop breat cancer in the next 5-10 years and is being put on Tamoxifen, does anyone know anything about it or is anyone else on it?
There are more details but I dont feel comfortable giving out her entire medical history. It is associated with the fact that she over produces estrogen. It has nothing to do with genes.
