What is Inflammatory Breast cancer?Inflammatory breast cancer a/k/a IBC is in a class of its own when compared with any other type of breast cancer. IBC is in the dermal lymphatic system and is the most aggressive type of breast cancer. IBC is usually NOT detected in mammograms or ultrasounds as in most cases, there are no lumps; the cancer lies in sheets and nests. The symptoms can be what appears to be a mosquito bite or a rash that won't go away with salves or creams. One breast that is one cup larger than the other, swelling , feverish breast, lymph node under arm are also symptoms. IBC is sometimes confused with mastitis which is a benign (non-cancerous) breast infection. The way to be an ibc survivor is through education! There are a myriad of long time ibc survivors. Although this is frightening when you read about it, no one wants to scare anyone; we just want to educate you by telling you, YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A LUMP TO HAVE BREAST CANCER and THERE IS MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF BREAST CANCER!
Why should I care about feminists whining about breast cancer when feminism causes it?81-PERCENT INCREASE IN BREAST CANCER SINCE 1971 http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2006-09/29/content_5154954.htm "Having fewer children before the age of 30, early menarche, late menopause and being obese or overweight after menopause are said to be all factors behind the increase." [ Children before 30 and breast feeding is THE primary means of preventing breast cancer. ] http://info.cancerresearchuk.org/cancerstats/types/breast/incidence/ The incidence of breast cancer has been increasing for many years in economically developed countries. Over the twenty year period 1984-2003 the incidence rate increased by 51% [ Coincides with feminism nicely again ] Breast cancer incidence rates vary considerably, with the highest rates in the developed world and the lowest rates in Africa and Asia. [ No feminists in Africa and Asia ] Why should I care if they get breast cancer? Shouldn't "independent women" accept (not to mention finance) the consequences of their own actions? Incidentally, some of the people answering don't realise that feminism is the reason two incomes are now required to support a family, so feminism is still to blame if the reason is "economic". And you women's studies people are hysterical, you have very bad tempers. The substance of the posts below appears to be insults. As usual, nobody can logically disprove that "feminism causes breast cancer", even if it doesn't cause 100% of the cases it is what is behind the rise in incidents, so quite frankly feminists can fund their own breast cancer treatment programs. Best question ever though!

Specific type of breast mass related to breast cancer?Hello, I'm 20 years old and I have a very firm and fixed breast mass. My doctor seemed to be extremely serious that it might be cancerous. She said, "It's very rare for a person your age to have breast cancer...however it doesn't feel good". She sent me immediatly over to schedule an ultrasound. Is there any specific type of breast mass that is associated with cancer more than others (say squishy and moving rather than firm and fixed)? I'm pretty scared and I would really appreciate your answers. Thanks!

This breast cancer strikes women of all ages. One victim was only 16 years old. Please tell all the women you know about this.

Would this anger you............about Breast Cancer? Some backround: I am a nurse of 17 yrs, have seen many people suffer from many types of cancer and the treatment associated with it, including those who chose no treatment. My question concerns my sister in law that had a mammogram 2 wks ago, a mass was discovered, an appointment w/ surgeon scheduled. She called me to let me know about it all, during conversation she mentioned if it is cancer then she will NOT have a massectomy(she is 45), I was livid, asked her why she thinks that is fair to her family, what she plans on doing the rest of her life that she would prefer a breast over living? What her husband thinks because 3 yrs ago he had testicular cancer and had those removed rather than dying. Well she got angry and has not spoken to me since, although thankfully the lump was negative for cancer. Do you think I was too harsh in my bluntness? To the breast cancer survivor, I am not angry that she is angry with me, I understand all of the emotional trama of having been delt an unjust/unfair diagnosis. I lost a close family member that did have a masectomy and still died a horrible death. My entire conversation with her was not me preaching and telling her she eas selfish, I also encouraged her to get a second opinion if the initial diagnosis was positive. I told her of my experiances with patients and their different treatments and choices. The reason I was so upset was that I care for her and the rest of her family and could not myself choose a death sentance over a loss of a body part, and could not see her doing it either, I agree i was probably harsh, but not without compassion in my conviction. If idid not care or as you say feel that only my way is the right way i would not be wounded by her anger and feel i let her down in my approach. BTW~ God Bless you for your life.

Breast Cancer @ 82 what risks ???A bit of babbling going on but I have recently found out that my grandma has breast cancer she is 82 years old and they said the lump is 6cm around they are giving her tablets to see if this will shrink the lump then after two months if it is still the same she will have to have her breast removed i was just wondering what sort of risks there are especially at her age. She doesnt know what she wants to do she said she'll do what ever my auntie and my mum want her to do but my mum has told her its her decision but i dont think she understands the whole thing ,My auntie doesnt want her to have it removed because she is worried about all the bugs you get in hospital and mum said what ever they can do to make her be around for more years to come is what she would like, i am really worried about all this as i lost my other grandma last year to another type of cancer and i still am struggling to come to terms with that any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

My mom has breast cancer. AND a re-occurance. what are the chances of me getting it?my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago. What does this new breast cancer look like?It starts as looking like a pimple or something, eventually it starts to rot your skin away. It is only on the breast though. It's like a type of skin disease, or breast cancer. I would like to know please.
LADIES - were you aware of this new breast cancer? And if so, do you have any other additional information that would be helpful. It's called Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Everything you were taught about the symptoms of breast cancer does not apply to this type. And it is extremely lethal. No lumps and it doesn't show up on a mammogram. A 16 year old girl even died from it, just because she was too embarrassed to tell her mom that her breast looked funny. And most doctors mistake it for a simple infection upon initial examination. Please read the following link for more information (i hope this saves some lives!): http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Sites-Types/IBC yes, I know it's not new! it was late and i was trying to leave. it's only new in that i've never heard of it before. cancer itself has been around for thousands and thousands of years, it just has a name now. i am concerned that people are concentrating more on my wording than the content....
Concerned about breast cancer!?Heres the gist of it My mom was diagnosed with breat cancer 3 years ago. Hers was a vigorous type of cancer. Luckily she went for regular mamograms and they caught it early She has been in remmition for the past 2 years and is happy and healthy. My aunt (my moms older sister) was diagnosed shortly after and has been in remmition for 1 1/2 years. My mom did a genetics test to see whether it ran in my family for concern of my daughter and I. The doctors told her it didnt. So my question is do I run a higher risk of getting cancer because I am in a direct blood line??? Please help Im scared. P.S... I am 25 and wondering at what age do women usually detect they have breast cancer.. Is there a set age??
Have you heard of Inflammatory Breast Cancer? My friend sent this to me and it freaks me out. It's pretty scary that this type of cancer cannot be detected by a mamogram and most women would just think they had a rash or a bug bite. It kills almost everyone who gets it because they don't know until it's too late. I tried to attach the video link but it wont work. If you want more info give me your email address and I will send it to you. If you don't want to do that, then please look for all the information you can on the net and pass it on, the life you save might be your own or someone you love dearly.
I have just been diagnosed with infiltrative ductal carcinoma (breast cancer).?I am just wondering what may lie ahead. I'm scheduled for an MRI and a surgical consultation. They say I have two cancer sites and it sounds as if they may do a "lumpectomy." I understand this type of cancer is very common. Any words of wisdom are most welcomed. I have a strong support system, I am very positive at this point.
If my graet granma, granma, and mother all had breast cancer or some?type of cancer, what are my chances of getting it? Im 25.
Anyone else out there that's had treatment and surgery for breast cancer but never seen an oncologist?I am wondering if this is normal behaviour? I am almost 8 years down the road, but have never met any one else that has had cancer and never saw an oncologist. I still go annually for a check up, and was recently told ( for the first time) that I had a type of cancer that often recurs easily.

Do Deodorants cause breast Cancer?Do Roll-On Deodorants cause breat cancer...and which types r good (Spray or Rolls) and which brands?
New evidence for cancer cure is kill the cancer stem cell?Evidence keeps growing that to cure cancer, you must kill off the cancer stem cell. For the last 30-40 years, cancer treatment has focused on just the cancer cell, and not the cancer stem cell. This is like killing the weed plant you see above ground and leaving the root behind. The root will regrow the weed, just like the cancer stem cell will regrow the cancer cells. Now, Tykerb has been shown to kill off breast cancer stem cells in some types of breast cancer, Parthenolide/DMAPT kills AML (leukemia) stem cells and other cancer stem cells, GRN163L kills myeloma stem cells. Cyclopamine and the new water soluble version kill prostate cancer stem cells and myeloma stem cells. Clinical trials to start soon. So, will this finally lead to some cancer cures? I await the evidence.
Inflammatory Breast Cancer? For three months now, I've been getting an intermittent breast rash, on the underside, which is quite hot to the touch. Antibiotics have helped clear it up on 2 occasions. There is however still a visible residual shadow of the rash. Of course nothing shows up on mammogram or ultrasound. The only symptoms I don't seem to have are the inverted nipple and no discharge from the breast. It seems the pores look bigger, so maybe I have the orange peel rash, maybe not. I'm no expert. At one Emergency Room visit I was told I have cellulitis. I was sent to the ER twice by my gynecologist because the rash wasn't clearing up quick enough in her opinion, once the antibiotics were started. (Amoxycillon) What I'm wondering is, with IBC does the cancer rash respond to antibiotics generally? What type doctor should I see now? My primary care and ask for a referral? From what I've read an MRI can detect Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Biopsy seems debatable. What now? Any IBC survivors? The first rash came on quick, within hours from pea size to 3 inch by 4 inch by morning. 2nd time, again, quick and large. Another area on side of breast also started 2 more rashes.
Do breast cancer lumps feel hard or soft?I have read breast cancer lumps are generally hard and things like cysts are soft. Are there any other types of lumps that are benign, but hard?
Can a blood and urine test determine whether or not a person has breast cancer? It may sound like I am putting my personal business out there but I have to know the answer to this question. I am 26 years old and just found out this week from my doctors office that I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors said that my biopsy and mammogram results determined that I have breast cancer. This does not make any kind of sense to me at all.. My doctor says thats its genetics and that it runs in my family but it does not. No one on either sides of my family has ever had Breast Cancer or any other cancers for that matter. All of my other relatives have been checked for cancer and their test all came back negative. I never drink or did any types of drugs. I am not being exposed to second hand smoke and I don't eat a bunch of unhealthy food. I had a blood and urine test taken a month before my biopsy and mammogram and they both came back normal. Do you think the doctors could have made a mistake and misdiagnosed me? And serious answers only please? I discovered the lump in my breast in August of this year. I have always been very healthy and have never been hospitalized for anything in my life and I am still very healthy now.
Question about going to a oncologist about breast cancer? My surgeon sent my to a good oncologist to get on tamoixfin. He said to me have your gyn give you refills because I don't have to see you anymore because your cancer is the type that there is a 99% survival rate. I have non invasive cancer. With calcifactions that are malignant. They also found that I have atypical hyperplasia. I had a lumpetomy and radiation. Do you think I should be watched by a oncologist or not?
