What do handle the fact that armpit shaving before 15 years can cause breast cancer?
I saw in internet some information that little girls who shave their armpit, especially if they use deodorant with aluminium, have a much more higher risk of breast cancer.

This risk stays higher than normal until the breast has developed i.e. with 14 or 15 years.
How can I make my girls strong enough to stand mobbing of the armpits-must-be-shaved-clique?

- i would talk to your doctor about this information to make sure it is correct. face it if you don't let them shave their pits they are going to be made fun of. i've been shaving mine since I was 13 and I don't have any problems and my grandma told me that she started when she was 11 and now she is 66 and has no problems. i think you need to make sure that information is accurate you can't believe everything you read.
- Maybe they can switch deodarants. Gels don't have aluminum. They also have all natural deodarants w/o aluminum. I figure with peer pressure, they will probably shave anyway...well, unless you can scare them out of it. :)
- Actually I think that study is a bunch of bs!! In America there are very few women or girls who dont use deodorant daily and few who do not shave their armpits regularly. By the time most parents allow thier girls to shave thier pits I am assuming that they would be mostly developed. I would just continue daily grooming until more information is found -which I dont think they will.
- um.. i would have to say that the risk is probably very low and shaving your armpits is not going to cause any harm. i know that deoderant w/ aluminium is bad, but do you really want your daughters getting made fun of at school???. they have to grow up some time and i thinkt hat you just want o keep them your little girls forever. if the risk was realy that bad, then more women would not be shaving their armpits. why not try hair removal creme instead of shaving if you are that worried. if you arent shaving your armpits by 15, there is something wrong.
"Frequent underarm shaving combined with deodorant use might increase women's chances of getting breast cancer, claims a study based on a survey of over 400 women with breast cancer in the US. It is the first evidence of such a link to appear in a peer-reviewed journal, but it is far from conclusive"
did you read the first paragraph?? the results are far from conclusive!!
if you are worried about this, remember that the air we brethe and the food we eat can cause cancer too, you cant starve yourself or hold your breath forever.
- They should shave... that's just gross... The problem lies with the fact that antiperspirant, not deodorant, causes this problem...If you keep the body from doing what it wants, perspiring, it could cause a problem...Switch to just a deodorant, and I dont think most of those have aluminum in them...You can check the label..That's what I buy for my hubby....I sweat no matter what, so it does not matter to me what I buy...What a bummer! Darn genetics!
- I never wanted girls to shave armpit so I feel sort of affirmed.
If you really love your girls and they love you they will stand the pressure of the stupid other girls who only do what the others do.
If necessary you can move to Montana or other lonesome parts of the US. The health of your daughters is more important than ease.
- I believe who ever wrote the article was just blowing smoke.
Under arm shaving does NOT cause cancer!!!
Deodorant, with aluminium in it, is a huge contributor to Alzheimers - NOT CANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you've ever really read any books about the human body, you will discover every human being is born with herpes and cancer; they lay dormant until something triggers them to come to life. Herpes lives in two places; near the top of the spine and near the bottom of the spine. The top area effects the head region and the bottom effects the rest of the body.
I'm exactly sure where, in the body, the cancer lives - but we all have both and we just have to be careful NOT to trigger either one.
- have them use a hair removal cream, do not make them walk around with hairy armpits, how cruel is that
- First of all talk with your doctor, second of all don' tuse deoderants with aluminium, third armpits need to be shaved for proper hygine. Unless you want your children sent home for sweatty stinky armpits. If that's what you want I suggest you homeschool your children.
- I don't see what shaving has to do with it. Toms of Maine is a good aluminum free deodorant.
