Is it weird to have my bridal shower theme be "breast cancer awareness?

I am really supportive of breast cancer awareness and i figured instead of a traditional favor (candle,pic frame, candy) i wanted to donate money to a breast cancer foundation. I also want to give pamplets out at the tables and pins and my game gift will be based around products that donate money when purchased like at bed bathe beyond and such. Will my family think something is wrong with me. Is it weird. This is a womens function and what better then this. cancer runs thru my family.

5. This is a lovely idea and I congratulate you for wanting to do this. Why worry about what anyone will think? If this is important to you, that's all that matters. Since cancer runs in your family, I'd hardly think your family and friends would fine it odd.
6. I would just go with the donations instead. Donate in the names of your bridal guests and give them a card stating that a donation has been made in their name to the breast cancer society.
   
   Pamphlets and games based on breast cancer?
   
   NO. A real downer. You have too much--no one wants to be inundated with cancer, cancer, cancer. It's supposed to be a joyous occasion.

7. I think it's an awesome theme.....a great way to get awareness out there while not getting "too down". Avon sells pens and pins and such that are pink w/ the breast cancer ribbons. They also donate $$ to research (i think). Congratulations on your wedding!

I think that's a great idea, a lot of breast cancers become fatal as they aren't caught early because women don't follow the steps that they should.(self-exams, doctor's exams, mammograms) Good for you for promoting women's health, and who knows you could save some women's life. Hope you have a great shower!
11. What a wonderful idea! My mum has just been diagnosed so it is a charity very close to my heart. All women need to know about breast cancer (and it is great to accept donations too!).
    
    You could check if there is any local breast cancer support agencies near you that may have someone to come along and give a talk etc.
    
    I have been to so many bridal showers that are just plain boring, what a great way to do something different and raise money and awareness!
12. not everyone will feel as strongly as you do about it being your theme. Have a run or fund raiser instead to show your support and have a happy uplifting theme for your shower. You only get one shower, and it should be a happy day of good memories, without cancer. They may find you to be obsessive over it and stress may doom your shower.
