Is this a normal occurrance - or possibly breast cancer?

About a year ago, I had to have a 2nd trimester abortion for medical reasons. A week or so later, naturally I started to somewhat lactate, and my breasts had gotten very swollen and hard. When it started to subside; on my left breast there was a small area where the skin had felt "thicker" - like what I'd belive to be similar to the "orange peel" effect. There was no rash or anything, and I didn't think about it. And it has long since gone away. Is that a sometimes naturally occuring thing when lactating? Or should I be worried it could be a sign of inflammatory breast cancer - or breast cancer in general?

  1. You know people on here really give some crapy answers. Don't pay attention to those. Im an ultrasound tech and do alot of breast ultrasounds. It sounds like a normal reaction from the lactation. If you had inflammatory breast cancer it would not have gone away. Just make sure you do self breast exams every month. And if you think you feel a lump always call your ob/gyn and let them have a look at it as well. Good luck, and sorry for the mean and insensitive answers that people like to give on here sometimes.
  2. if in doubt, always see your GP.
  3. The best thing to do is to go to your doctor =)
  4. Go to your doctor immediately.
  5. It is possible for milk ducts to get clogged, especially if you are not breast feeding. As long as it went away and there are currently no lumps in that area, you are fine.
  6. Please don't ask something this serious on here.
    You need GOOD ADVICE.
    Go see a good doctor.
    Ask around first.
But get going on this, no time to waste.
    Best of luck!
  7. I do not know what it could be but don't stress out thinking about it cus that could bring other consequences to your health, just take your time to go the doctor and get a straight forward answer =) Best regards
  8. I don't think its serious, but I'd check with a doctor to make sure. If they don't seem to be hard now and haven't for a wile I wouldn't worry.
  9. I am sorry you had to abort but I am very curious as to why they did not give you a pill to dry up. Actually I'm shocked you're lactating at all considering it was only after the 2nd trimester and the milk wouldn't have come in yet anyway in a continued pregnancy. You could just have an infection. Seek out the advice of your ob/gyn with a phone call to the nurse.
  10. Go to your doctor. You will never know until you ask.
I wish you the best of luck...
