Am I too young to have breast cancer?

The past two generations of my family (males & females) have died from cancer. I am 25 years old, last week I found what seems tobe a lump in my breast. I'm not even sure what would be considered a "lump" medically speaking. It is on the outer part of my breast, closer to my armpit. It feels like a small pebble in the tissue, but not in my skin. It isn't painful, but I definately panicked when I found it. Could it be cancer?

  1. Get to your doctor to find out. You should never take a lump in your breast lightly. My mom got breast cancer when she was 32, so it can happen to younger ladies.
  2. It could be cancer as breast cancer doesn't care how old you are but since it doesn't hurt and is small it may be a cyst. See your doc and get this checked out.
  3. It's probably not cancer, most of the time lumps you find in your breasts are nothing at all,..but it could be a number of things, a cyst, a tumor, or just a fatty lump. Your best bet is just to get it evaluated by a doctor, atleast you will have the peace of mind.
  4. You are not too young, you should go see a doctor just to be on the safe side. Because it rans in your family you are at a higher risk. Go get checked out
  5. It definitely could be breast cancer, especially since it run in your family. Go see your doctor as soon as possible to have it checked out. By the time the cancer is palpable it has the potential to be very dangerous so the sooner you see your doctor the better.
  6. No, you're not too young to have breast cancer. It could be cancer, especially since it is hereditary, but you should probably check with your physician or gynecologist to be sure. To take extra precaution, be sure not to put deoderant past your underarm. Keep it away from your outer arm as much as possible.
  7. Unfortuanatel no one is "too young" to have cancer, it pains me to say this but look at all the little children dying from different cancers.....cancer is like our generation of the plague!!!!!!!!! good luck and get it checked out fast
  8. This could be any number of things.. it could be a small cyst, could be cancer.. but I'm thinking it is probably one of your lymph nodes... we have these all through our bodies... If you are really concerned, please go see a doctor. And while you are there, have him/her show you how to properly do a self-examination of your breasts so you have a proper idea of what to look for.
  9. IT DOESNT MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE. YOU CAN GET CANCER EVEN BREAST CANCER AT YOUR AGE. ITS PROBABLY NOTHING BUT I WOULD GO FOR A MOMMORGRAM
  10. See your doctor, especially since you're not sure what "lump" means medically.

It could be nothing, it could be something, but with your family history, see your doctor pronto.
  11. there is no limits on the age young or old male or female.
i think you may have swollen gland but you should see the doctor
  12. Since you have a family history of cancers, it would be best to have it checked out. A simple series of tests such as a mammogram, ultrasound and possibly a biopsy will rule out the possibilities of problems. Cancer does not understand about age, so its best to call your doctor and get it checked out as soon as possible.

BTW, what one might look for is an irregular shaped lump, a pebble (like you described), grain of rice, an apple seed, or similar in shape and texture.
Breast cancer is not isolated to the breast tissue, it can be found also in the area between your breasts, down your rib cage and into your armpits and along your upper chest below your collar bones.
  13. You must get this checked, hopefully its nothing, my friend ignored a lump in her breast aged 24 and died at 29 after the cancer spread, sorry, dont want to frighten you but if i could prevent another person from going through this and ofcourse their family and friends its worth giving a little kick up the bum! please make an appointment now, good luck.
  14. 'not necessary it could be a cancerous lump, it could be some sort of a tissue that is caused by hormone imbalance normally would occur before or after your period but to be safe it is best to check with a doctor and get hers or his recommendation for screening before its too late
