- In stage 0, cancer cells are present in either the lining of a breast lobule or a duct, but they have not spread to the surrounding fatty tissue. This stage is also called ductal carcinoma in situ, or DCIS
In stage I, cancer has spread from the lobules or ducts to nearby tissue in the breast. At this stage and beyond, breast cancer is considered to be invasive. The tumor is 2 cm or less in diameter (approximately 1 inch or less); cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes
In stage II, the tumor can range from 2 cm to less than 5 cm in diameter (approximately 1 to 2 inches); sometimes cancer may have spread to the lymph nodes
In stage IIIA, the tumor is 5 cm or greater in diameter (approximately 2 inches or greater); or the tumor may be of any size where cancer cells have grown extensively into axillary (underarm) lymph nodes
- im not sure, but try web md
when my aunt had that we looked on there
hope it helps
- well first you get a knot then the cancer starts to get painful very painful and pain pills don't work for very long then it spreads and it get attached to your lungs or something close by which is the worst thing that could happen then it spread more and painfully kill you so the best thing to do is get it cured why can.
- I can not give you accurate staging since I have not studied in years, but first you have to know which type of beast cancer you have Ductal Cell Carcinoma or the more deceptice Lobular Cell Carcinoma - either way they will pretty much follow the following path.
Carcinoma in Situ - There are malignant cells present but they are running through the breast ducts. There is no breach in the basal layer. Very good prognosis, treated with surgery, chemo, and radiation.
Stage I -There is a breach in the basal membrane, once their is a breach the cancer can spread rapidly or slowly depending on how aggressive the cancer is and what type of breast cancer.
Stage II, III -The tumor size reaches a certain size, and invade other types of tisse, but there is still only one tumor
Stage IV - Metastasis to other parts of the body, usually carried through the lymphatic system. Surgery for breast cancer always occurs with removal of sentinal nodes along the breast line and into the armpit to ensure there are no metastisis or to see which is the first lymphnode clear of metastisis for accurate staging.
