Public Comments

  1. Invasive Breast Cancer is the name for cancer that has left the original space. What you heard is probably Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, which means cancer that has spread out of the duct work.

    Stage 0
This stage is used to describe non-invasive breast cancer. There is no evidence of cancer cells breaking out of the part of the breast in which it started, or of getting through to or invading neighboring normal tissue. LCIS and DCIS are examples of stage 0.

    Stage I
This stage describes invasive breast cancer (cancer cells are breaking through to or invading neighboring normal tissue) in which

The tumor measures up to two centimeters, AND
    No lymph nodes are involved.
  2. invasive or infiltrating breast cancer penetrate through normal breast tissue, such as the ducts and lobules and invade surrounding areas. they are more serious than noninvasive cancers because they can spread to other parts of the body, such as the bones, liver, lungs and brain. Stage O, cancer cells are present in either the lining of the breast lobule or a duct, but have not spread to the surrounding fatty tissue this stage is also called ductal carcinoma in situ, or DCIS
Stage I, cancer has spread from the lobues or ducts to nearby tissue in the breast. this stage and beyond, breast cancer is considered to be invasive. the tumor is 2 cm or less in diameter, the cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes.
these 2 stages are considered early breast cancer. Hope this helps some with your questions.
  3. invasive, by definition, is at least stage I.
