What causes breast cancer and what are the signs of breast cancer?
Public Comments
- Usually family genes carry breast cancer, if you have a family history of it, you could talk to your doctor about your chances of getting it, they can usually help with that.
You can get mammograms each year when you go in for a PAP test or you can do them yourself monthly.
It usually starts with a lump in your breast, not EVERY lump you have is cancer, sometimes its a caffeine deposit, I've had those, if you check yourself, and you feel a lump, just go to the doctor, is could be a cyst or a caffeine deposit like i mentioned earlier, or if it is cancer [ a small tumor], if it is caught early, you can get it surgically removed [ the tumor, not your breast ahah ] and you will more than likely be free from the cancer.
Hope I helped.
- From what ive just looked up breast cancer can be a cause of several factors, here are some,
Taking the pill
Hormone replacement therapy
Women without children
Women who start their menopause early
Women who have never been breast fed
Women who start their periods early
Being overweight
Drinking too much alcohol
Women with late menopause
Women who have certain types of benign breast disease
Women thought to have faulty inherited genes
As for how you notice it i suppose the way there is to watch out for any serious lumps that have been around for more than just a short time.
Sorry cant be more helpful but this is taken from a respectful internet help site, so hope it helps.
One thing more is that after all that said it mentions that breast cancer is still not fully understood so i would suggest you seeing your GP if you feel you have problems and best of luck
- vitamin b17 deficiency i would suspect,..but doctors and the pharmaceutical industry along with the fda can not make money if you are well,..sorry had to cut this short,..

- there are a lot of signs. . .
Skin of the breast starts to look like an orange peel, the nipple retracts (inverts into the breast,) pain, lumps, heat. . . different cancers have different signs. . .
Causes are many. Most women DO NOT have significant family history. And you can have a significant family history and not be genetically pre-disposed to the gene mutations we've identified as causing BC to date.
If you suspect you have a problem. Get to the doc. Push for a mamo even if you're young.
Good luck
- Breast cancer is generally in the genes, some say been overweight, bad diet, drinking, smoking or an early menopause can cause it, my mom died of it and didn't smoke, drink, have an early menopause or have a a bad diet and wasn't overweight, guess I will stick to the genes theory.
- my mum found a lump in her left breast last year, when she went to the doctors, they were more concerned about her right breast,as the nipple was becoming inverted, they got her in for a mammogram, and it turned out that the lumps were cysts, but it was in fact the right breast that was cancerous.apparently at the time my mum felt a tugging sensation behind her left nipple but thought nothing of it, as most women think breast cancer is only when a lump is found, when its not,its anything difference whether through feel or appearance, she had to have 2 operations between november and january last yr, and was given the all clear, but has to have mammograms every 6mths,she had one in october and was told that she would have to wait 2wks for the results, they had found several cysts in her left breast again, but didnt tell her about the right one, she phoned up last week worried because she has also felt a lump in her right one since, they said they'd make an appointment for her results, and made it for 31st december,as you can imagine another stressfull xmas,i was disgusted she supposed to get her results in 2wks not 2 mths, cancer can spread quickly, but i am so pleased to say that she has received a letter from her doctor today stating that her results are clear, but she still has to keep her appointment date, as i say, dont just check for lumps, check the appearance too, if you find anything unusual,no matter how trivial you may think it is,better to be safe than sorry,if my mum hadnt got the cysts in her left breast then it could have gone unnoticed, because she ignored her right nipple becoming inverted.
